Quick tour

See your whole year, one calm screen at a time.

Most budgeting apps keep two things apart: your fixed plan (salary and regular expenses) and what you really spent. Oricalo puts them together into a month-by-month view, so you always know how much you will save and where your balance is going. Here is the whole idea, screen by screen.

Everything below is the real Oricalo app, running live on sample data - click around, it works.

1

Your whole month, the moment you open it

The Overview is your home screen. It answers the everyday question first: how much is left to spend this month. Around that you get your main numbers, how your balance is moving with an estimate for the end of the year, your biggest categories and your latest entries. One calm screen, the whole picture.

What the Overview pulls together

  • Left to spend - your monthly budgets minus what you've spent, with a dashed pace marker for how far through the month you are.
  • This month at a glance - income, spending and savings, each compared to last month.
  • Running balance - the solid line is real; the dashed line projects your year-end balance at your current pace.
  • Top categories & latest entries - where the money went, and what you logged most recently.
  • Savings pots & debts - how your pots are filling up and your debts counting down, at a glance.

The cashflow projection

Oricalo takes your repeating income and expenses, such as salary, rent and subscriptions, and spreads them across the whole year. It adds them up each month and carries what is left into your balance so far this year. Watch that balance grow across the example year below.

How the projection adds up

  • Projected from your recurring rules - each ↻ row is a repeating income or expense from the Recurring tab, spread across the months it falls due.
  • Total income = your recurring income (Salary + Freelance), projected month by month.
  • Total expenses = your recurring expenses (Rent, Utilities, Insurance).
  • The summary cards total your income, expenses and net savings; the chart below traces your running balance to its projected year-end figure. Per-category budget tracking lives on its own Budget tab (step 4).
  • Month savings = total income − total expenses.
  • Year-to-date balance = last month's balance + this month's savings.

Changing a repeating line affects future entries only. Entries already added, and any you marked paid, stay as they are.

How recurring works

  • Choose a schedule - daily, weekly, monthly (a date or “first Monday”) or yearly - with an optional end date.
  • Income posts automatically; expenses land as pending so you can mark them paid.
  • Get a reminder before each expense is due - by bell, email or push - with overdue ones flagged.

See exactly where your money goes

Every entry is added up by category and by month. The grid shows the whole year with a small trend line for each category, and the bars below put your biggest spending at the top.

Set a budget and stay on track

Give each category a budget for the month. Type it once and drag it across the other months. Every box shows spent out of budget. It turns amber as you get close to the limit and red once you go over. A dashed line shows how far through the month you are, so you can tell whether you are spending too fast.

How budgets work

  • Set a monthly target per category - drag one value across every month in a click.
  • Each cell shows spent / budget and tints amber as you approach the limit, red once you pass it.
  • The Year column shows a progress bar with how much is left (or over).
  • The summary bar's dashed pace marker shows how far through the period you are - so you can tell at a glance whether you're ahead of or behind plan.
7

Know what's in each account

Give every entry a home - wallet, bank, card - so each account carries its own real balance that rises and falls as money moves.

How accounts work

  • Each daily entry and recurring rule is booked to an account - income adds to it, expenses subtract.
  • An account's balance is its opening balance plus every entry, so a card shows exactly what's there right now.
  • Transfer money between accounts - it moves the balances without touching your income or expense totals.

How pots work

  • Give each pot a name, colour and target, then set money aside toward it whenever you like.
  • Every top-up is dated, so each pot shows a growing balance and an estimated date you'll hit the target.
  • Pots earmark part of your real balance - the totals always reconcile with your Overview.

How debts work

  • Add a debt with what's owed today, then log each payment - the balance drops and the bar fills as you clear it.
  • Every debt shows how much is left, how much you've cleared, and an estimated payoff date at your current pace.
  • Payments here just track the balance - log the money actually leaving your account as a daily entry so it only counts once.
